Apulian almonds are obtained by the seeds of the almond tree ( prunus dulcis), they get peeled, carefully selected and calibrated. Peeled almonds are mainly used to make sweets such as nougat, sugared almonds (Italian confetti), cakes, cookies and amarettos.
They are also rich in Vitamins (mainly B and E), essential amino-acids, unsaturated fats and mineral salts (Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Iron).
Apulian almonds are well known for lowering bad cholesterol.
